CNS® Connect: Bridges Certified Nutrition Specialists® & the Health Community & Public

CHICAGO (August 26, 2020) - The American Nutrition Association (ANA) has launched the CNS® Connect initiative to build stronger bridges between Certified Nutrition Specialists® and the health community and public. This platform showcases the skills and talents of Certified Nutrition Specialists® and provides the health community and public access to CNSs.

CNSs are the gold-standard advanced nutrition professionals, trained to practice personalized nutrition.

"I am a proud holder of the CNS credential -- the only choice for me in my quest to delve deeply into science based personalized nutrition and to practice the kind of nutrition that truly transforms people's health," said Ginger Downey, MS, CNS, a personalized nutritionist in private practice.

CNSs possess advanced knowledge and skill in personalized nutrition science and practice: they have earned an advanced nutrition or healthcare degree, completed graduate level coursework in nutrition science and clinical application, completed 1,000 hours of supervised practice, and passed the rigorous Certifying Examination for Nutrition Specialists℠. CNSs are permitted to practice the full scope of nutrition therapy in most states, and may obtain a license in 19 states and territories, with more added each year.

CNSs are a diverse group of health professionals: Advanced nutritionists, MDs, DOs, pharmacists, naturopathic physicians, chiropractors, registered dietitians and more.

Established in 1995, the CNS credential has been administered by the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists℠, the certifying body of the American Nutrition Association.® It is quality-assured by NCCA, the accreditor of certifying programs.

CNSs are supported by the full rigor of the American Nutrition Association, which Educates, Certifies, Advocates and Connects as the professional association for personalized nutrition science and practice

“When we added a CNS to our practice, the quality of care and individualized attention skyrocketed,” said Kara Fitzgerald, ND, IFMCP, owner of Dr. Kara Fitzgerald Functional Medicine. “Today, I have a full nutrition team and residency program specifically for CNSs. Hiring CNS nutritionists has revolutionized our delivery of care.”

CNS Connect bridges CNSs with the highest-caliber healthcare providers, institutions, and companies. Bring the most advanced personalized nutrition professionals on to your team!” said Michael Stroka, CEO of the ANA. Learn about the CNS®, the Advanced Nutrition Credential.
