Ketogenic Nutrition Training Program

Foundational Ketogenic Nutrition Training $295

The Foundational Ketogenic Program guides health coaches, nutritionists, and dietitians who seek a basic foundation in the ketogenic diet. These key concepts enable health coaches to adequately counsel clients already prescribed a ketogenic diet by a Licensed Healthcare Provider.

Course Details:
  • This is 100% online, and the modules are self-paced.
  • The course must be completed within 3 months of registration.
  • Approximate total learning time: 16 hours for required course materials plus additional learning time for supplemental material.
  • Continuing Education (CE) Credits: Upon the successful completion of the program, 16 CEs will be awarded to Certified Nutrition Specialists® from The Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists (BCNS℠).
Curriculum - 2 Foundational Modules:
  • Module 1: Ketone Metabolism and Historical Clinical Evidence
  • Module 2: How to Formulate a Ketogenic Nutrition Plan
Prerequisites:
  • No prerequisites are required, although a background in nutrition, biochemistry, and/or basic science is highly recommended

Advanced Ketogenic Nutrition Training $695

Register for the Advanced Training Program

The Advanced Ketogenic Nutrition Program (Foundational program plus Advanced modules) trains nutritionists, dietitians, and other licensed healthcare professionals who desire the in-depth knowledge to fully support clients in all aspects of assessment, implementation, and maintenance of a ketogenic diet. Completion of this course meets some of the eligibility requirements to take the Certified Ketogenic Nutrition Specialist (CKNS℠) Examination.

Course Details:
  • This is 100% online, and the modules are self-paced.
  • The course must be completed within 6 months of registration.
  • Approximate total learning time: 56 hours for required course materials plus additional learning time for supplemental material.
  • The Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists designates this activity for a maximum of 56 Continuing Education credits for Certified Nutrition Specialists.
  • The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) designates this activity for a maximum of 52 Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEUs) for Registered Dietitians (RDs) and Registered Dietetic Technicians (DTRs).
Curriculum - 2 Foundational + 4 Advanced Modules:
  • Module 1: Ketone Metabolism and Historical Clinical Evidence
  • Module 2: How to Formulate a Ketogenic Nutrition Plan
  • Module 3: Assessment, Implementation and Monitoring
  • Module 4: The Case for a Ketogenic Diet in Disorders of Insulin Regulation
  • Module 5: The Case for a Ketogenic Diet in Cancer Treatment Regimens
  • Module 6: The Case for a Ketogenic Diet in Neurological Disorders
Prerequisites:

The course is intended for individuals who have a strong background in nutrition assessment, nutrition therapy, and biochemistry. It is designed for nutritionists and other licensed health care professionals who have nutrition in their legal scope of practice.

CKNS℠ Requirements

To be eligible for the Certified Ketogenic Nutrition Specialist (CKNS℠) examination and credential, you must complete the Advanced Ketogenic Training course and hold one of the following:

  • Certified Nutrition Specialist® (CNS®) in good standing; OR
  • Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) credential or licensed/certified as a dietitian/nutritionist (LDN or CDN); OR
  • Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university, or its foreign equivalent; OR
  • Doctoral Degree in the field of nutrition, dietetics, related health science or medicine, from a U.S regionally accredited college or university, or its foreign equivalent; OR
  • License to practice a healthcare profession in the U.S. with nutrition in the legal scope of practice including, MD, DO, DC, ND, NP, RN, PharmD, Doctor of Nursing or foreign equivalency.'
